How to Connect Yamaha Soundbar to TV

How to Connect Yamaha Soundbar to TV

Yamaha has several very popular soundbars including the SR-B20A and SR-C20A. To use these soundbars they need to be connected to your TV through HDMI cable, optical cable, analog cable and Bluetooth.

As we don’t recommend connecting your Yamaha soundbar to your TV with an analog cable, due to sound degradation, we will look at how you can connect your soundbar to your TV through HDMI cable, optical cable and Bluetooth.

HDMI ARC

HDMI ARC

If you have a modern TV it should support HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). You can verify this by looking for “HDMI ARC” under an HDMI port on your TV.

Connecting Yamaha Soundbar to TV With HDMI ARC

  • Turn OFF your TV and soundbar
  • Plug in HDMI cable on TV and soundbar
  • Change TV audio output to HDMI
  • Select HDMI as audio source on soundbar

The setting names might differ depending on which brand of TV and model of soundbar you have.

You can control the soundbar via remote or app if available.

Optical Cable

Optical Cable

If you have a modern TV an optical cable and optical audio output ports should be available.

Connecting Yamaha Soundbar to TV With Optical Cable

  • Turn OFF your TV and soundbar
  • Plug in optical cable in TV output and soundbar input
  • Change TV audio output to optical
  • Select optical as audio source on soundbar

Bluetooth

Bluetooth

Connecting via Bluetooth is a simple process, but not all TVs will have Bluetooth support. The quality of the audio will also be degraded vs HDMI and optical cable.
